Het Laatste Avondmaal

schilderij_laatste_avondmaal

Since 1545 our abbey is in the possession of a remarkable work of art: the most faithful and the most beautiful replica of the 'Last Supper' painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the refectory of the monastery Santa Maria delle Grazie at Milan. Our 'Last Supper' has become even more precious because the original work has suffered so much throughout its history, that unfortunately, most of the original beauty has been lost. If you want to admire the 'Last Supper' of da Vinci in its original beauty, we advise you to pay a visit to our abbey.

The painting can be viewed in the abbey church: on weekdays from 8 to 11 am and from 1 to 5 pm and on Sundays from 8 to 10 am and from 1 to 5 pm. The light can be switched on with a push button in the side aisle (5 min. timer). Admission is free.
We kindly ask you to respect the silence during your visit to the abbey church and not to walk around in the abbey church during liturgical services.

In the Tith Barn, a photographic reproduction on scale will allow you to see all the details of the painting. The barn is accessible every day from 8am to 5pm.
